Alden Shoes – A Heritage, a Legacy

Founded more than a century ago by Charles Alden in the year 1884, Alden shoes have come a long way providing men’s boots and dress shoes such as the prominent Oxfords, Loafers and Chukka boots. Founded in Middleborough in Massachusetts, Alden shoes is famous for its handcrafted leather boots and dress shoes.

Made of out pure leather, though Alden boots and shoes are considered a little expensive than other brands, it’s their durability with which the shoe lasts for literally decades makes it a worthwhile investment. During the early 21st century when almost every company was hit badly by recession, Alden shoes seemed to sail through the tough times pretty easily. Out of the several shoe manufacturers that existed in the 19th century, today Alden is the last one from the region and has garnered the rapport of being a heritage with its consumers who feel proud to sport a show of the company.

The company still owns and runs their manufacturing unit (factory) in Middleborough with just more than hundred employees out of whom several are second and third generation workers who are dedicated to Alden shoes. Today, when almost all of the manufacturers have gone out of the US to Asian countries or Europe for manufacturing on cost cutting measures, Alden shoes is the rare kind who continues to manufacture in US and is growing popularity with consumers.

Alden Shoe Company especially relies upon their elite class of shoes manufactured for people who mostly are in business attire. The cultural impact of the shoe company and its popularity can be judged and measured by the fact that Alden shoes were shown as the choice of the famous Paleontologist superhero, Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford was shown sporting them in all of the Indiana Jones films throughout the franchise.
